Problem: How do you get around Los Angeles without driving a vehicle bigger than a McMansion that consumes more gasoline than the Hamburglar at the Golden Arches?
Solution: Electric scooters and bikes are becoming more popular all the time as a clean, affordable and faster alternative to commuting around this sprawling region. And there are a few shops opening up around town to cater to this growing green market.
Zero Emission Motors, which is located in Canoga Park.
"Zero Emission Motors was founded for the simple purpose of selling high quality electric scooters and bikes to the public at an affordable price," said founder and president Adam Maoz. "We are committed to doing our part in lowering emissions."
ZEM scooters run up to 85 miles on a single charge, which is more than double the average commute of 40 miles. And a charge will cost less than $.25. That's right. Less than $.25 for 85 miles.
That makes a trip to the local British Petroleum gas station even less appealing than it was even after their horrific Gulf Coast oil spill.
"Our scooters are a fun way to get around town while saving you the high cost of gasoline," said Maoz.
